Raven's Mountain

Raven's Mountain

If you want an even more wild experience, then a visit to our 50+acre Chiricahua Mountain sanctuary, Raven’s Mountain, is a must. There on a dramatic foothill backed by over 100,00 acres of protected wilderness is our hunter-gatherer encampment, including stone pit-house, brush wickiup, shade ramada, sweat lodge, mesquite wildlife blind, flint-knapping pit, cooking hearths, and a 600 foot elevation gain to the top of Raven’s Mountain. Here, among the wide-open spaces, you may choose to spend your nights under the stars, in your tent, or even in one of our natural shelters. This is the perfect place to learn stone-age and survival skills and to appreciate the beauty, richness, and solitude of the Sky Islands. Raven’s Mountain is certified as “Backyard Wildlife Habitat” by the National Wildlife Federation.

The Chiricahuas are the largest of the Sky Island mountain ranges and offer streams, waterfalls, incredible rock formations (including at the incomparable Chiricahua National Monument), and unforgettable wildlife encounters to all who venture there. The small and quaint town of Portal lies nearby and offers some basic amenities, as well as a variety of lodging and camping options. New Mexico is only a “stone’s throw” away from Raven’s Mountain, offering its own natural treasures for your exploring pleasure.
